John Hofmeister | Founder & Chief Executive, Citizens for Affordable Energy; Former President, Shell Oil Company
Upon retirement as President of Shell Oil Company in 2008, John Hofmeister founded and heads the not-for-profit membership association, Citizens for Affordable Energy.
A business leader who has participated in the inner workings of multiple industries for over 35 years, Hofmeister also has held executive leadership positions in General Electric, Nortel and AlliedSignal (now Honeywell International).
Hofmeister served as the Chairman of the National Urban League and the Chairman of the U.S Department of Energy’s Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technical Advisory Committee. He serves as non-executive Director of Hunting plc, London; Applus+, Barcelona; and Chairman Erin Energy, Houston.
Hofmeister is a Fellow of the National Academy of Human Resources. He also is a past Chairman and serves as a Director Emeritus of the Greater Houston Partnership. He is the author of Why We Hate the Oil Companies: Straight Talk from an Energy Insider (Palgrave Macmillan, 2010).
Hofmeister served as a Wringly Scholar/Executive in Residence in the Global Institute of Sustainability at Arizona State University. He is also a Lecturer at the University of Houston and Kansas State University.
Hofmeister earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in political science from Kansas State University. In May 2010, he was awarded an honorary doctorate of letters from the University of Houston and from Kansas State University in 2014.
Katherine A. DeRosear | Dream it. Do it. Virginia and Headed2, LLC
Katherine DeRosear is the Partnership Architect for the Manufacturing Skills Institute (MSI), the workforce development affiliate of the nonprofit Virginia Manufacturers Association, and facilitates the Dream it. Do it. Virginia Network. DeRosear works with the workforce partners throughout the U.S. to increase the manufacturing capacity of communities by closing the career planning and skills gaps faced by advanced technology industries. In addition to her role with the MSI, she is the Vice President of Partner Engagement for Headed2, LLC. Headed2 provides career planning experiences that are technologically advanced yet brilliantly simple.
Previously, DeRosear held lead positions in both the private and public sectors, where she advised industry policymakers, educators and workforce leaders on improving state and regional workforce ecosystems throughout the country. Specializing in workforce development, government relations, and community development, DeRosear is considered an educonomy pioneer in developing innovative workforce solutions that link educational programs with economic opportunities.
