10th Annual FUSD Tournament of Technology: Call for Online Judges
Mar 20 all-day

The Fresno Unified 10th Annual Middle School Tournament of Technology on April 1 is less than two months away. Students will be competing in technology-based categories including robotics, video production, and design. New 3D printing and robotics events were introduced last year and this year will introduce new Website Design and Search & Rescue events. Race car and bridge-breaking events will continue to attract a lot of interest but all 14 events will help students flex 21st century learning skills.

Event Judging:
Friday, March 17 – Thursday, March 23 (Online)

  • Robotics (Battle Bot, Robo Rally, Robot C Programming, Search & Rescue)
  • Design (3D Printed Car Race, 3D Printed Bridge Strength, Kodu Game Design, Website Design)
  • Video (Advertisement, Blockbuster, Documentary, Public Service Announcement)
  • Exhibition Events (3D Useful Object, CoderGirlz)

ISO 9001:2015 – Risk Based Thinking and Context of the Organization

Speaker: Jorge Zegarra, College of the Sequoias
Jorge Zegarra is the Director of College of the Sequoias (COS) – Training Resource Center, which delivers customized training and consulting solutions to the manufacturing and service industries in the Central Valley. Prior to joining COS in 2014, Zegarra worked in the private industry for over 30 years, including 18 years as a Lead Auditor, Instructor and Business Manager with Underwriters Laboratories (UL) and DQS, Inc. He was responsible for the provision of quality systems certification services, across multiple industries in the USA and abroad. Zegarra is a certified ISO 9001 Lead Auditor.

Presentation: With over 34,000 companies certified in the USA and well over 1 million companies certified worldwide, ISO 9001 is undoubtedly the most popular Quality Management System (QMS) standard in the manufacturing and service industries. The new revision of ISO 9001 international standard was released in 2015 and it has introduced new concepts and requirements.

This session will provide an overview of ISO 9001: 2015 “risk based thinking” and the “context of the organization”, implementation challenges as well as some “risk based” tools and methods. Time will be allocated for questions and answers.

Manufacturing Brunch & Job Fair @ Workforce Connection, Manchester Center
May 31 @ 9:30 am – 3:00 pm

Fresno Regional Workforce Development Board invites all manufacturing companies to attend a Brunch to meet the Manufacturing Mechanic Class students whom completed training on May 16. Following the brunch, a Manufacturing Job Fair will take place. This will give employers an opportunity to fill open positions.
