Mike Betts, chairman and CEO of Fresno manufacturing firm Betts Company, has been selected as the new chairman of the Fresno Business Council.

He will replace Kurt Madden after four years of service. Madden will continue on as Fresno Business Council director.

Founded in 1993, the Fresno Business Council was formed by business leaders to tackle economic and social issues in the community.

Betts adopts an active portfolio with the organization. He previously served as chairman of the San Joaquin Valley Manufacturing Alliance (SJVMA).

“The FBC remains laser focused on expanding private sector, education and government partnerships with the SJVMA to build a strong workforce and strong communities; aligning and leveraging the Life Skills Initiative with the Civic Learning Center to build a stewardship pipeline; to advance partnerships on the statewide and regional level with the Strong Workforce, California Community Colleges, California Forward and the California Stewardship Network to increase civic stewards throughout the state; and to build our organization through membership, employer engagement and developing financial pipelines to support community improvement initiatives,” Betts said in a statement.
