You will be responsible to plan, coordinate, and direct land surveying, civil engineering, and utility locating projects. The Senior Surveyor will lead and oversee designated projects, striving to complete projects within agreed budgets and timelines. The Senior Surveyor performs and/or coordinates all aspects of land surveying, both in the field and in the office, including preparing crews for field duties, analyzing data, and performing research to make boundary determinations, performing complex survey and construction staking calculations, reviewing and adjusting survey data, and preparing final client deliverables. The Senior Surveyor is responsible to establish and maintain friendly, professional relationships with project managers during course of work on a project and must be able to effectively communicate both.

The Senior Surveyor will have extensive responsibilities. Some but not all include:
– Project Management, including oversight, direction and support of field and office work associated with Topographic, Boundary, A.L.T.A., Anchor Bolt, Construction Staking and C.E. projects
– Research, gather and supply essential documents and materials to direct the completion of field work (i.e., field packets)
– Support and optimize field crew productivity by arranging for and/or providing necessary field packets in advance of project work, pre and post field work check-ins to anticipate and solve for any challenges with upcoming scheduling or deadlines
– Guide and direct survey staff to stay on course with project schedules and budgets by monitoring completion of assigned field and office tasks
– Be available to troubleshoot and/or provide guidance to field crews when issues arise with field work
– Drive completion of survey projects within contracted budgets and timeframes; provide regular updates to management and ownership on project budget and/or timeline slippage
– Effectively manage scope creep through timely communication and negotiation of Extra Work requirement when scope and/or client needs change
– Maintain project files and include all notes, communications, research and design documents
– Prepare Survey and UGL client deliverables and ensure project management and QA/QC processes have been completed prior to deliverable going to the next stage of the project
– Calculate and analyze field boundary data, while assisting field survey crews on complex survey engagements
– Analyze and interpret public records research including deeds, plans and other relevant project documents
– Maintain a high level of standard in survey work orders, control/datum setup
– Perform and/or oversee surveying calculations
– Delegate and follow up with survey crews and CAD techs on assigned tasks
– Sign and stamp deliverables

REQUIREMENTS

– Knowledgeable in all aspects of Land Surveying, including legal requirements, boundary determinations, construction staking calculations, and ALTA requirements
– Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering is preferred. Commensurate experience acceptable
– PLS is preferred
– Knowledge of local subdivision and zoning requirements
– Thorough understanding of the use of up-to-date survey technologies and interface with AutoCAD Civil 3D
– Communicate effectively both orally and written
– Able to take decisive action and document rationale for training/backup purposes
– Results driven with the ability to function independently and multi-task
– Able to pivot, focus and manage time well ensuring deadlines are met
– High attention to detail, resourcefulness, and analytical skills
– Ability to lead, manage and hold employees accountable
– Demonstrates a positive, can-do attitude and is solutions oriented.
