Position: 2nd Shift Processor

About the Job:

The processor is responsible for the leadership and direction of the processing department during his or her shift. The processor is responsible for the continuous process daily.

The processor must operate in the most efficient and effective method while following the processing parameters. The processor must meet the highest standards in quality, food safety and cleanliness while operating the cleaning and processing equipment. All documentation must be performed for each processing day.

The processor will set a good example with co-workers in all aspects of the job and will exhibit flexibility and willingness to be evaluated.

The processor will bring problems to the attention of management and will propose solutions to those problems. All potential changes to the process or equipment must be directed to management prior to making a change.

The processor must follow the chain of command on instructions given from management.

Duties of the Job:

Primary:

· Operating the processing, cleaning, and boiler equipment daily.

· Monitoring and maintaining the boilers, dryers and cooler for proper temperatures, accuracies, and shutoff alarms. Monitoring all moisture levels during your shift.

· Maintaining all equipment for optimum performance relating to his or her department.

· Running and monitor all the quality assurance tests on the cooking process during your shift. (Moisture, damage, white bellies, incoming grain etc.)

· Communicating to co-workers during processing for QA or QC issues.

· Examining all raw products before unloading to assure quality control issues.

· Following all procedures relating to the HACCP and GMP programs.

· Increasing processing and efficiencies whenever possible while maintaining the highest level of quality control and safety.

· Monitoring all processing controls and filling out reports daily.

· Shutting down the processing equipment, making sure all equipment is clean and sanitized prior to closing.

· Monitoring all equipment for safety issues and reporting to management.

· Communicating to management on breakdowns, parts and/or supplies needed and preventative maintenance issues.

· Monitoring and maintaining the wastewater system.

· Monitoring all areas of the mill before leaving for security purposes.

Doing post walk through of the plant, making sure all equipment is secured and turned off, all doors and entrance gates are secure and locked, lights are turned off, alarm is set prior to exiting.

Secondary:

· Observing processing sanitation assistant conducting cleaning and sanitizing,

· Performing daily sanitation inspections of the processing area at the end of his/her shift and reporting any irregularities.

· Monitoring the preparation and use of cleaning chemicals.

· Implementing corrective actions to ensure compliance with established requirements.

· Assisting with co-workers to maintain a safe and hazard free environment.

· Suggesting innovative ideas for his or her department.

· Assisting the preventative pest control program.

· Assisting frequent plant food safety audits with the QC Manager.

· Assisting frequent plant food security audits.

Other duties:

The processor/sanitation supervisor will perform other tasks and duties as may be added from time to time.

Authority Boundaries:

The processor makes no independent policies, staffing decisions or expenditure decisions unless authorized by management. The processor will communicate to the 1st shift processor, production supervisor with any pertinent information. The 2nd shift processor has the authority to instruct and/or discipline the sanitation assistant when necessary.

Required Personal Characteristics needed to successfully perform the described job duties. The employee must demonstrate these characteristics to maintain a favorable review for this position.

4. Ability to make sound judgment concerning quality and food safety issues.
