Spring Coiler

SUMMARY 

Sets up and operates CNC or mechanical coil spring making equipment by performing the following duties. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 

Evaluate tools required for job and recommend improvements. 

Load material into payoff reel by forklift or hoist. Assemble tools in machine. Feed wire into machine. Make or modify machine tools using grinders, cutters and remove or replace machine components as required. Programs and operates CNC machinery. 

Cycle machine and produce springs. Accommodate into container or stress relieve. Measure all parts using calipers, precise gauges and testers and adjust process as necessary. Remove and contain remaining material at end of job. 

Document all process settings. Utilize statistical techniques to assure product quality. Complete production change request (PCR) as required. 

Capable of performing all other duties throughout the shop including but not limited to; grinder, secondary operations, etc. 

Programs and tests product for load, rate and/or initial tension using electronic testers. 

Calculate basic spring design in order to adjust machine as necessary. 

Performs in process inspections of product. 

Maintains clean and orderly work area. Initiates improvements and sustains lean manufacturing procedures as part of 6S procedures.

Performs other routine duties as requested. 

Operates industrial forklift or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials. 

Supports and complies with all quality processes and makes recommendations for continual improvement of On Time Delivery, Quality, Cycle Time, Safety and Cost reduction.
