Essential Functions of Position

The ideal candidate will share Madera Community College’s commitment to educating its racially and socioeconomically diverse student population. For the 2024-2025 academic year, we enrolled over 12,000 students in which 68% identify as Latinx, 8% as Asian/Pacific Islander, 3% as Black/African American, 17% as White, 1% as American Indian/Alaska Native, and 3% as multiracial. Madera Community College is a Hispanic-Serving Institution, reflecting the great responsibility that the College has to the educational attainment and economic well-being of the surrounding community. The successful candidate will join a college dedicated to the students it serves.Providing instruction in Mechanized Agriculture on the Madera Community College
campus and/or at off-site community campus locations, the instructor will be responsible
for:

  • Teaching agriculture mechanics classes such as introduction to agricultural mechanics, introduction to agricultural welding, small gasoline and diesel
    engines, electrical and hydraulics fundamentals, agricultural welding
    fabrication, and more;
  • Assisting in the operation of the Mechanized Agriculture budget, facilities and programs;
  • Developing a Mechanized Agriculture advisory committee and coordinate advisory committee meetings at least twice a year;
  • Providing advice and mentorship for students within the department;
  • Participating in recruitment activities with high school agricultural programs
    such as FFA competitive events and student leadership activities;
  • Participating in Program Review and Student Learning Outcome development
    and assessment to improve student learning;
  • Providing leadership in the development and implementation of new
    curriculum and academic programs that are in demand;
  • Staying current in the discipline and participating in appropriate professional
    development activities;
  • Increasing enrollment and completion, assisting students in job placement, and
    follow-up with students in work experience and internship/externship
    opportunities;
  • Serving on and attending department, college, and district committees;
  • Assisting with the development and management of local, state and federal
    grants;
  • Teaching assignments in a variety of instructional settings and times, including
    evening and/or weekends, on-line or off-campus and large group instruction
    classes as needed; and
  • Otherwise fulfilling all of the duties and responsibilities of instructors as
    required by Administrative Regulation 7122 Duties and Responsibilities of
    Instructors.
Minimum Qualifications
All candidates must have evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practice within the classroom; and
    • Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of full-time equivalent professional experience; or
  • Associate degree and six (6) years of full-time equivalent professional experience; or
  • A valid California Community College Credential; or
  • The equivalent education and/or experience (requires an equivalency).
